In this our society I have noticed a peculiar trend of specific preferences. Hands.
Hand-breaded nuggets, hand-written message, hand-made purse, hand-knit hat, hand-sown dress, hand-fried chicken, hand-played instrument...etc. etc.
Want to get people interested in an item you made? Add the prefix "hand-" and you will have people knocking down your door for that product. Want people to eat the burger you just grilled? Just add some hand leafed lettuce. Want people to read a blog post you just wrote? Hand type it. (wait....)
How do you feel about this fad of fashion? Is it really good to have hands touching everything? But, on a side note, how awesome would hand-fried bacon taste? Not just fried bacon, hand fried. It makes all the difference... (But I'm not exactly sure how that would all play out...)
Just some food for thought!

(Now I'm going to go and hand-make some tea, hand-write some schoolwork and hand-play the violin...)
In 1784, Benjamin Franklin wrote a letter to his daughter telling her that he wished that, instead of the lazy bald eagle, who has bad moral character, Congress would have chosen the wild turkey for the national bird. He also said this because turkeys are a more respectable bird, and are native to America.
This was well over 200 years ago, but, in the grocery store the other day, a thought struck me. The turkey, offended by this "whole not getting to represent his country" thing is now trying to make his way back into our everyday lives. It started with Thanksgiving, and it's an American tradition to eat turkey at Thanksgiving... I mean, I don't think I've ever eaten a bald eagle at that time of year, have you? Then, deli meat...My whole family loves turkey sandwiches...We also eat turkey burgers. Yep, ground turkey patties can also double as the classic dish usually made with beef. And now, the turkey is trying to beat out pork. We never eat real bacon anymore. The turkey has us cornered, because it pulls off a mock pork taste, and it's way more healthy! But, back to the grocery store. As my mom pulled the turkey sausage off the shelf, I pulled off the pork sausage. She compared nutritional info, and got a betrayed look on her face. The pork sausage had 15 grams less cholesterol! We looked at each other, shocked, and as the turkey sausage went back on the shelf, I grinned. The turkey might be able to be bacon, burgers, sandwich ect... And it might be more healthy than some meats, and taste just as good, but it hasn't beat out the sausage yet! :)

{ *Disclaimer* This post was kind of a joke, as in, the turkey actually
caring that it isn't the national bird. But, there is some truth to it
making it's way into practically every food.... :) }
PS (here is a funny video that my siblings love to watch before bed, but it gets stuck in your head!)
Also, life has been CRAZY lately, so sorry posts are lacking and rather random.... But I should be back to posting somewhat normally next week. :)
Not sure why I'm actually posting right now, except for that I have time and I feel like it. I really don't have anything to post about. So beware... :)
"{I do like a road, because you can always be wondering what is at the end of it.}" From 'The Story Girl' by L.M. Montgomery
Just a cool picture from Africa. I snapped this one for my brothers, I thought they would like the dirt bikes....
I am taking a little breather from a short story I am writing right now. (Literally.) I find the sinking of the Titanic so interesting. So, I have been doing some research and just finished the beginning of the short story. I like it and I have this brilliant writing structure which helps my idea filled mind get a story out on paper without it having lots of good ideas, but no real story. (Check out This Post. JD describes writing quite well, in my perspective.) Anyway. I haven't been up to much. Right now, I would be at orchestra practice, but it's over and our concert went quite well. And drama is over too. Bummer.... My cousin in the Air force came and visited us today. It was Awesome!! He used to bbsit us like every week, but since he's moved now, I do the babysitting, and I'm not sure how much my sibling appreciate that. :) I went and saw the Avengers on Friday, (or was it Saturday... I can't remember...) It was good! I thought it was cool and the special effects were amazing. They picked the perfect actor for Loke, (the bad guy) because he wasn't like super villian-y looking with and evil laugh and stuff, but had a nice smile and these irritating sneaky things he did that drove you bananas the entire movie. Captain America was valiant as usual, and Iron Man made me laugh! I have to say, I didn't think I would like Hawkeye that much, but I did. He was probably one of my favs because he was bad then turned back good... I think he reminded me of Legolas,(sorry if I spelled that wrong) from Lord of the Rings, in a modern way. Well, signing off for now and sorry if I bored you to death with my random post.. :)

Sometimes I get into the mood to post random things. So, here are some random things to make a hodge podge post. (Whether it is interesting or not I will leave up to you...)
Trying to explain this picture would be a bit difficult :) Let's just say Daddy and I always have fun playing with the ipad...
This is me on vacation with my awesome cousin Belle. She is so cool... Her birthday is tomorrow too, so happy bday cousin! She and I always have fun together, and I look up to her like a sister. :)
I LOVE her music...
My dad took us on a hike, and I thought this picture turned out pretty good for an iphone...
OH, my... I love this little stinker. She is funny, naughty, cute, loving, and just so Lillers. I love her so bad.
Okay, so at orchestra the other day, my good friend said this and I totally am going to start using this..."Don't listen to what I say, listen to what I mean." That fits me because sometimes words sound great in my head or look good on paper, but do not come out right.
Here is probably the most random thing though. We have the First season of the original Muppet show, and the kids thought this was HILARIOUS. I must say, it totally gave me the giggles the first time too.
Well, I'm signing off now. We are on our way to see our cousins for Easter, and I am excited!!! I am sitting in a hotel bed right now blogging while my brother is next to me playing Angry Birds, and my 4 younger siblings are watching Mickey Mouse. Ha, Ha, only on spring break...Well, Maybe see you later, but if not, Happy Easter. Jesus is ALIVE!!!
And you didn't think I would post again before I left for Africa.....shame, shame....But, here I am!!! Anyway, I was just going to post some things that have so greatly encouraged me in like the past 24 hours.
#1.) God. He is so awe filling. I can't get enough of Him. This trip is already stretching me in ways I never would have thought and very much showing me how much I unintentionally exclude
God in my day to day life. And I'm not even out of the country yet!
#2.) The scripture. Oh yes, convicting, but comforting at the same time. Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:9-21 ESV)
Ahhhhhhh... there goes a sigh of frustration and joy, because I KNOW I am not like this all the time. Sin just latches onto me, and if I give the slightest inclination that I am giving in, it sinks its nasty claws in deeper and fill me with the nastiest poison. Fear will gnaw at my mind, creating a void of unknowing-ness, but I have HOPE!!! I will rejoice with my savior because he crushed the serpents head, and defeated death! And I want to be like Jesus. Oh so badly I want to be like him. And so this verse gives me joy because I can follow his example and be a servant of all. I want to abhor what is evil, and cling to what is good. God is so powerful and merciful he can take the dirty, dingy sinner that I am, and polish me and sand me down, and refine me into vessel fit to serve in his kingdom.
#3.) My friends. Oh my. God has given such good friends that fill me with buckets of joy! I can just giggle thinking about them. And Sunshine, my 'sister' friend, is going to Africa with me! Her brothers left a awesome comment on the last post, and that was so sweet to read... Thanks guys! And then my friend Noah gave an awesome card yesterday and reminded me that God picks me up when I am down, and shows me his love. Thanks Noah! My friend Z is such a witness to me, and her servanthood and love towards the people she is serving right now is such a testimony to Christ. I want to have her ability to die to self someday. And then there are all my other friends and that is so many people that that I could probably just write a whole blog on them all. :)
#4.) This quote: "God has called us into the joyous ministry of giving His love away to others." ~Don Lessin.
#5.) My mommy and dad. I LOVE them. They are such a blessing in my life, and now that I am going to a place where not a lot kids have mom or dad, I am just beginning to realize how much they really mean to me.
Well, I could probably write more, but because I already wrote one lengthy post this week, I'll free you of the reading and sign off now. I am about 99.99% sure that this is the last post before I come back from Africa, but there is always the .01% chance, so, goodbye for now!!

No, I'm not obsessed with Jeffery Dallas. It's just a really fun song to sing harmony to (I was actually singing melody) but anyway. I would say that this is the band Fuzzy Bunnies in the Pool, but we are missing T-Bird. Bummer! We'll have to do another cover when he is with us. Anyway, enjoy, and go ahead, share it!

Today my younger siblings were talking about what animals they wanted to be....
Oggie: I would be a walrus..
Erna: Well, then I would be a elephant. No, wait, a polar bear, then I would fight you and eat you.
Oggie: No, cause we would have an underwater battle and I would eat you!
Jbear: Well guess what guys? I would be an Arctic Rhino and eat you both! (Smiles and walks away)
Oh my. I love my brothers and sisters.
I am not a blond. Promise. I really do not have blond hair. As my friend Rye Bread puts it.....
"You are a brunette, with blond moments." That totally describes me. really. I was making a cup of tea the other day, and I put the cup in the in the microwave for 2 minutes, only to realize I forgot the water. jeepers.
And my favorite, from my momma. (I started symphony and didn't have the best first practice) "This isn't a waste of time. It's just a new use of time." Oh, thank you. I think moms just have that encouraging thing inside them, and know just what to say at the right time. (Okay, not all the time but most)
TWO PICTURES....
Sometimes, as a follower of Christ, big sister, daughter, friend, role model, student, writer, musician, cook, bathroom cleaner, ect, ect, I forget about Jesus. "WHAT?!" You might say. Or "How?" But I can get so caught up in the world (looking pretty, being at a high standard in others eyes, stuff.....you get the jist of it...) I lose sight of what matters most. I am a daughter of the Most High King. He is my father. He sent his Son to die for me, and pull me out of the ocean that I was drowning in. He fills me with the Spirit and makes me new and fresh. I don't need to find my worth in the eyes of others, if they hated Jesus, why should I have the slightest inclination that they would love me? This is just an old hotel, and I am a visitor who will be checking out soon. But that also doesn't mean that while I'm here I can't shine like a blazing fire, waiting in anticipation for the day I will be with Christ. I can share His love with others in this world, and proclaim His name to all the ends of the earth.
Whenever I look at the stars, I feel this engulfing sense of awe towards my God. The God who created this, created me. And not only that, he loves me. God paints the sky with beautiful colors and the entire universe is his canvas. And it makes me super excited, because if there is something this
beautiful in the sky right now, can you imagine how many billion times
better heaven will be?!
AND ONE VIDEO...(or two)
This is weird, and entertaining at the same time. But because I live in a state with LOTS of corn I found it amusing, and you might too....maybe..
And if you really really want to waste your time right now, Here is one more. But Beware. It is a waste of time. And it will be stuck in your heads. And if your siblings watch it, they will not stop singing it. (I know from experience. Not funny.) So just watch it once.
